Grandfather shirts, or granddad shirts, are traditional Irish shirts with no collar and Henley-style buttons, or with buttons from top to bottom. They were a favorite garment among farmers and factory workers in Ireland during the 1920's and 1930's.
Made of soft cotton and/or linen, they're breathable and comfortable year-round. Linen versions are also known as "Sunday Shirts" and are worn in Ireland for formal events like christenings and weddings.
Our Irish grandfather shirts are available in the Henley style, which is what Magee of Ireland offers, as well as the full button-up style, which is what Civilian makes. There's a color and style for every taste here, and this versatile garment will prove a valuable addition to any wardrobe.
